Today we begin with our special Hongkong program: MADE IN HONG KONG. The evening will be opened with a lecture about building identity in the cinema of Hongkong by Clemens von Haselberg eingeleitet. Then we screen at 7 pm in the Luru Cinema Made in Hongkong by Fruit Chan which is often called the first independent movie in Hongkong. Then at 10 pm we we show Dangerous Encounters of the First Kind on a 35mm print – an early film of Hong Kong New Wave. Both films are content and production wise radical for their time.
