An interview film as a live concert. Alec Empire (Atari Teenage Riot, Producer for Björk, Nine Inch Nails et al.), Berlin’s godfather of intelligent electronica music, beat activist and punk-floor pioneer, will peform a live score for the brand new cinematic work by Paul Poet (Ausländer raus! Schlingensief’s Container, EMPIRE ME)—one of the leading Austrian directors for provocative political films—in the style of Empire’s early solo works for Mille Plateaux label. Heart-rending in the echo chamber!
Raw, direct, shocking. In the interview film »My Talk with Florence« Florence Burnier-Bauer talks, starting with her childhood, about the dramatic life she led in the beginning of the 80s in Otto Mühl’s commune in Friedrichshof/Burgenland. What she found there, instead of physical and mental relief, were authoritarian, fascist hierarchies, abuse, harrassment and violence. Director Paul Poet allows Florence full bent on her memories, when she re-invokes the ghosts of her past in search for catharsis. Cinematically, truly in the tradition of cinéma verité the film offers an unrelenting insight and tells the story of Florence’s emancipation and her hard and strugglesome path to »saying no« in a purist way

bring you two of Anja Kirschner’s collaboration works that she did with
David Panos.

It’s the great and unexpected return of GEGENkino!
We have a very special event coming up end of this year.
In a cooperation with the Expanded Cinema class of HGB Leipzig, we will organize a workshop with video artist Anja Kirschner,
which will be about advanced approaches to scriptwriting. The workshop
will be held in German, which is why the rest of this post will be in
just that language:
In einem 5-tägigen Workshop erläutert die
Künstlerin Anja Kirschner ausgehend von ihrer eigenen Praxis und der
anderer KünstlerInnen, wie man sich dem Drehbuchschreiben nähern kann,
wenn man ausserhalb konventioneller Formate und für eigene »moving
image«-Projekte schreibt.
Die Darstellung grundsätzlicher Regeln des
Drehbuchschreibens stehen hierbei genauso im Zentrum des Interesses wie
deren Anwendung und Variation innerhalb der künstlerischen Produktion.
Schwerpunktmäßig geht es um erweiterte und »nicht-narrative« Strukturen,
die Verwendung von fremden Texten, Improvisation und Kollaboration und
um den Umgang mit dokumentarischem Material und sachlicher Recherche.

Die Rächerinnen in Rape&Revenge-Filmen wie Ms. 45 »werden nicht nur für die Morde zur Verantwortung gezogen die sie an Figuren begangen haben, die an der Vergewaltigung keinerlei Schuld tragen. Bestraft wird hier zugleich ein feminines Aufbegehren gegen Sexismus und sexualisierte Gewalt, ein Selbstermächtigung der Frau zur Wehrhaftigkeit und der Ausbruch aus der Geschlechternorm einer passiven Weiblichkeit durch die Gewaltausübung. Eine solche Reaktion, das implizieren diese Rape-Revenge-Plots, führt direkt dazu, dass Frauen Amok laufen und deshalb – notfalls durch eine Vergewaltigung – in ihre Schranken gewiesen werden müssen.« (Julia Reifenberger)
