Für diejenigen, die sich keine Karten reserviert haben: Es gibt noch genügend Tickets an der Abendkasse!
Die Vorführung ist für 21 Uhr angesetzt und wird etwa 2 Stunden (inclusive Pause) dauern. Im Anschluss gibt es ein Künstlergespräch mit Johann Lurf – einem der Vertical-Cinema-Filmemacher.
Beachtet, dass einige der Filme photosensitive epileptische Anfälle auslösen können. Daher: Passt auf euch auf!

Filmmaker Johann Lurf announced that he will come to the Vertical Cinema event on Apr 28 at Paul Gerhardt Church, where he will talk about and introduce us to the Vertical Cinema project
and will also be available for a Q&A.
»Johann Lurf (AT) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, and the Slade School of Art in London, graduating from Harun Farocki’s film class. His films Vertigo Rush (2007), 12 Explosionen (2008), Kreis Wr.Neustadt/A to A (2011), to name but a few, have been screened and won awards at numerous international film festivals.« (source: verticalcinema.org)

Vertical Cinema [German Premiere]
Only two weeks left until GEGENkino #3 starts—and now here’s for some very special announcement!
On Apr 28 the VERTICAL CINEMA project will come to Leipzig as part of GEGENkino festival and will turn the cinema screen towards the church dome. At the Paul-Gerhard-Church in Connewitz a 9x4m large vertical cinema screen will be installed and a special construction of 35mm projectors will screen a seldomly before-seen selection of experimental films by a variety of international film and video artists.
Vertical Cinema events have been taking place so far only at selected festivals and venues—most recently at the Baltā Nakts in Rīga last September—and this will be the first Vertical Cinema screening in Germany.

Vertical Cinema [Deutschland-Premiere]

Unser Blick richtet sich senkrecht nach oben – aus der Dunkelheit dem Licht entgegen. VerticalCinemaverbannt traditionelle Projektionsformate und dreht eine Cinemascope-Leinwand mit ihren sehr breiten Ausmaßen um 90 Grad. Damit ist die Leinwand zwölf Meter hoch und bildet mit den speziell gefertigten 35mm-Projektoren – ebenfalls um 90 Grad auf die Seite gekippt – einer Konzertanlage und dem Längsschiff der Paul-Gerhard-Kirche das wundervoll geeignete Setting, in dem eine Kurzfilmrolle gewohnte Filmerlebnisse neu auslotet, in die Vertikale verschiebt und in seiner Intensität fast schon in den Himmel wachsen lässt. Zehn Gruppen von Avantgarde-FilmemacherInnen, MusikerInnen und bildenden KünstlerInnen wurden für die gezeigte Kompilation beauftragt, jeweils einen Film zu produzieren. Die Arbeiten stehen in verschiedenen Traditionslinien des abstrakten Kinos: strukturelle Experimente, found footage-Remixes, chemische Filmmaterialuntersuchungen und Laser-Aktionen verlagern auf faszinierende Weise das kinematografische Bild auf eine neue Achse.
